I'll give them a call to find out. The crucial part tho is when its not in my possession ie baggage handlers as the cycleguard won't cover for that either.

I'm sure I called cycleguard last year and they confirmed this

at baggage handling would this be covered by your travel insewerance (if you'd advised them that your luggage included your bike)? it's insewerance remember they're looking for ways not to have to pay...

In short No. not unless you specifically insure for a high value of the bike, it isn't cheap...but I thought the cycleguard covered damage in transit - which is why i took the eyewatering option for Switzerland - which required the worldwide cover as it isn't 'in' the EU...fekkers.

I had a race specific policy which was a whopping £300 per year. I went to USA and wrote off my Trek TTX. Insurance hired me another bike to race in USA and replaced the TTX.

Then come renewal time told me to fuck off as the whole sketch cost them a mint.

Try getting insured when you answer the question 'have you ever been refused insurance'.

So the options are this, get a very good house policy like M&S or pay the GDP of a small country to insure through a race specific policy.

Sure the house policy doesn't cover me in a race, which is why I watch what the fuck I'm doing, and everyone else, so I don't crash.

If DHOL knocks you off in her nissan micra during a race, then it's on her dime anyway.

Travel insurance, well mine, does not cover bike in transit. However if you ring M&S and talk it through I'm sure they'll either confirm it is, and/or you pay a tiny amount for a simple extension for that trip.

Speaking of which, I need to tell M&S about The Lightcycle - I think they'll shit a brick when they hear the price tag....
