I put it down to residual fitness from being chased by a Diplodocus for 12 months.

Cheers all

Residual fitness, genes, racing experience, knowledge of course, probably a mixture of a number of factors to compensate for lack of training.

Total restructure of injury maintenance scheme
Swimming doesn't cause any problems
No running, but can do 25 mins of circuit training without causing any injuries to flare up, any longer and the knee/lower leg start to complain
Cycling upto 30 minutes before the lower back seizes and needs stretching.

But it is a start point, so not too despondent.

Crikey. I think even the hardest hearted ATOS examiner would let you have Disability Living Allowance.

Due to the sedentary nature of the job, the only physical tasks I need to do for my annual medical is
Touch my nose with my fore finger whilst eyes are closed ( not too difficult )
Bend over and attempt to touch toes with legs straight ( no need to touch toes, just attempt )
And
Walk four steps in a straight line with eyes closed

Everything else is a BP/HR, eyesight and hearing

Even Atos would think I had it easy ;)

Game plan is two months to get back to being able to train where it is recovery after exercise not rehabilitation.

It is probably more mentally challenging to refrain from intensive exercise, knowing you feel ready to do something more strenuous when it is actually more beneficial to back off.
Do athletes tend to drift away from sport due to them feeling alienated when injured if they keep staying in the company of fit athletes, so move to a different social area so as not to feel too depressed and never go back?
