Bike maintenance stands?

Postby Bopomofo » 09 Apr 2015 22:58

Anyone got one? Any recommendations? Doesn't have to be industrial grade, just something that will fit a wide range of frame shapes and means I don't have to scuff my saddle/levers every time I re-index my gears.

Ta.

You're in luck.

Visit Aldi this Sunday: https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/specialbuys/s ... r-stand-2/

Bought mine about a year ago. Works a treat.

I saw a post somewhere recently about how stands that the bike clips on top of are good, you don't need to clamp on the frame so suitable for all sorts of shapes and sizes. The bike is up high so you don't have to bend over.

Also Halford £11. Stand. Brilliant to hold the bike up when doing tyres. Races

I had a stand to rest the bike on (still do if you want it) but I couldn't tinker with my madone on it as the chunky carbon bottom bracket shell didn't rest in the guide so it kept wanting to fall off. Got one of the aldi ones last year that clamps on the top tube which is much better I find

Just found the link to the one I take everywere
http://www.halfords.com/cycling/tools-maintenance/bike-storage-solutions/halfords-storage-and-maintenance-stand its not great for maintenance but is brilliant for taking out when doing TT or Tri. You can just stick the bike on it Pump tyres, check brakes and not starch the car. Aslo use it in the garage to keep the communtor bike safe

Not sure how big Maddy's bottom end is, Jibbs  but I'm guessing my Argon18 and Trek have similary embiggened nether areas. In fact, the Emonda downtube is almost embarrassingly fat!

Hence my reference to a wide range of frame shapes... anything that requires an attachment to downtube or BB area would have to cope with anything from drainpipe to broadsword!

Aldi and Halfords are neck & neck, it seems!
