Calendar year is as arbitrary as any other, Kfwerty, so I'd say stick to it. I'm sure Big_Queen will enjoy his Jan/Feb/Mar early races, take the summer off enjoying some illegal drinking in Western hotels, then ramp his score up in Oct/Nov/Dec when we are all hiding under our duvets. :D
I had fun once. It was awful.

Will, the only training you will be doing over winter, will be with your snow shovel trying to get out of your front door. :D

OK, I've started populating the Google Docs file with events that I know people are doing next year (i.e. Sieraków for a few folks and Dambuster for me) - if you have races you know you will be doing, let me know and I'll pull them up on the list.

:ugeek:
2015:
26/04 Southampton 10k
30/05 Sieraków Triathlon
21/06 Dambuster Triathlon
29/08 Club Relays
27/09 Hever Triathlon

Illegal? No. Inadvisable and Tritans-esque? Possibly.

Time to start entering events. And possibly buy a bike...

Sorry to be a pain, but can I suggest that the score is based on percentage of age group and gender, rather than just gender? I know it's a bit more hassle but it keeps things fairer for us olderish members?

Actually you should expand the rule to put that work on us, ie we tell you the winning time, and our time? I'm not sure if that's what you expected but might as well make it clear?

This is a very fair point which I have given some thought. I think it'll be mightily difficult to reliably track things in a single file if we introduce ALL age groups, but what we *could* do is introduce a "veteran" category for, say, 45+ y.o. forumites. In which case you'd be taking the winning time from the 45-50 age group (or nearest) and benchmarking yourself against that. Thoughts?

Wrt submission: yes, the things I need are: race name, race date, your time, winning time.

Just make it our responsibility to submit our times and the winning time from whatever age category we were in at that race. Some races do 40-44, some do 40-49, some do over-40 etc.

So long as we correctly tell you the winning time in whichever category we were in on the day, it'll all work?

To make life easier for yourself, each 'athlete' would have just two rows - winning time & their time. You could put the scores on a separate tab. This would also make the formatting of the rows a lot easier and less maintenance for you. :D

Oh, in case I wasn't clear: this is a bloody brilliant idea! :D
