Why yes, goes like this,
1.Use bike,
2.Bike doesn't work,
3.Spray WD40
4.Use bike,
5.Bike doesn't work,
6.Spray WD40
7. If bike works, repeat stages 1-6, if bike doesn't work go to stage 8
8. Take bike to LBS, or buy new bike.
9.repeat 1-7

Funnily enough that was my maintenance plan. However after recent incidents. I will need to show the bike a lot more TLC.

And he listens....sort of...I mentioned on Sunday that you need a chain whip and locking nut removal tool. Attach chain whip to cassette, insert locking nut tools then realise you have done it wrong and tightened it up further...swap whip around and remove.

However - your cassette may be ok - how do you know its whacked? Spray it with WD40 - use an old rag and run it between the cogs. Then inspect.

Its a 5 min job to swap cassettes - the chain, can be a bit fiddly - but you've learnt the hardway - Clean Yir Bike!

I cleaned the cassette and in between the cogs on Monday. It does not look too healthy, plus the chain used to skip between gears. So bought a chain whip and a remover tool, chain and a cassette.

Cassette removal is easy enough. Make sure you count and recount the number of chain links to make sure its right with new chain!
