UPDATE:

1stly i have nothing but the highest praise for everyone involved in my admission, operation, post op care, and discharge. i CANNOT see how anything could have been better had i gone private (which was an option for me)

everything went well... op was smooth - my femur is apparently VERY hard, and when they dislocate the hip, it makes a sound like a pringles can top being flipped off ;-) oh - and trhey were all amused by the saddleback pig tattoo on my right buttock

i was the physio's dream patient i was told... on sticks in 24 hours, 100m done non stop within a few more hours, stair tests done a day "early". And i got signed off for discharge early afternoon of the 3rd day. Mrs Didds, an O.T. herself, looked through my notes on day 1 post-op and exclaimed I was a model patient.

so .. i am now on the rehab road. sleeping on my back is painful after a very few hours so i ended up sleeping half of last night in an armchair that was more comfortable.
