Olivia

This am Olivia "competed" in the South East Regional Gymnastic Champs. This was her first appearance for her Gym team. Now she only goes once a week at the moment ( she is at the stage where she is trying everything to see what she likes - she has an LTA tennis coach - she not bad at tennis, hockey, swimming, badminton, athletics, archery etc) so she isn't actually that good compared to some of the other girls who obviousy spend every waking momment training - but that's ok.

She loves it. She has made friends, she is confident, it teaches her control and patience etc ( none if which I have so I'm hoping she won't be like me in that regard)

She did a floor routine and then moved onto the vault.

She was great - there was 200 parents there which is a lot of people watching you on your own and she did really well. A steeply seated stand towering over the kids must have been a little daunting.

Remembered her routine ( with a slight pause in the middle) and recovered well when she did a headstand in the wrong place.

Her scores ( I can't pretend too know how they mark this stuff)

Floor - 5.600
Vault 1 - 7.200
Vault 2 - 7.200

She was bloody beaming and smiled for 2 hours from start to finish. That's says it all to me, keeps her fit, supple, socially in touch with her friends, responsible , calm, explosive, competitive ( she said she wanted to win next time :D

All in all - I'm feeling rather proud today so excuse my ramblings.

Well done her!!!
Have seen the sort of commitment that the squad at our local gymnastics club go through to compete (youngest goes to their 'recreational' class) - so it sounds like Olivia is doing really well!

Well done Olivia.
Gymnastics is an awesome sport. Keeps you extremely fit.
Be careful Bendy if she gets the bug. Training time goes mental!
3 of my 4 daughters are gymnasts, the only day we don't go to the gym is Tuesday!
Georgina and Milli now also leave school on Wednesday afternoon!
Georgina currently does 24 hours a week!!! But loves every single minute has a six pack that every forum member would be glad of.

So keep going Olivia and we will see you at the Nationals!
