My eldest

Postby birdyman » 02 Oct 2012 20:41

My eldest son, (let's call him T1) who is 8, is not really sporty (doesn't like football etc) and is a bit academic and lacks confidence . For a while he has wanted to join Chess club at school, but has been prevented because it is only open to Years 5 & 6, (he has just started year 4). I got home tonight to ask him him how his second session in chess club went (they have grudgingly let him 'try out' to see how he is) to hear that he trounced a year 6, who apparently spent the match telling my boy that he was doing this wrong and that wrong, etc. I had a crap day, and speaking to T1 just put a massive smile on my face.

Then he told me that he has entered a cross country run next Friday for the school. (He is shaping up to be a good cyclist and swimming lessons are coming on well.....wonder where we could go with those 3 sports). Any thoughts?

I am so chuffed for him.

This has put a smile on my face. Go T1. He sounds a bit like I used to be when I was younger, except I can't play chess. Hope it continues to go well for him and he kicks all their older arses :-)

Football's rubbish anyway ;-)

That's brilliant on both counts. Especially glad he beat the patronising year 6!

:D thanks - I have a T2 as well and another couple of aspiring triathletes. We have made an agreement that we'll all do a tri together when they are old enough - in about 14 years so I'll be about 53, and I doubt that they will remember! By then the BCTTT will have accomplished its primary mission of world domination.
