I think I am seeing a link here between bike cleaning and wearing out BBs - I have had one new BB on Champ in 4 years (after at least 10,000km... some of which with his previous owner) - the current one has done over 5,000km and still seems fine.
There - scientific proof that a good coating of Surrey crud (and a set of puny legs not putting out too much power) helps to preserve your bike

Most Definately

Have never had to replace a BB yet
Jack and IanM will admit that my bikes are allergic to soap and water.

There might be one not a million miles from you that would be open to a test drive (though it wears Look pedals and may have an odd long legs/short body setup)...

That's very kind thanks, I may well take you up on that.

I do have a couple of concerns. Firstly I don't have Look cleats, which means I'd have to borrow a pair of your shoes and tbh I'm not sure I can carry Pink crocodile skin, off. Secondly I'm also a bit concerned that if we ended up with the same bike / helmet / skinsuit and ended up at the same event, we could look a bit professional. Which would never do.
