Helmets?

Postby tesseract » 11 Jul 2014 12:08

I'm now in the market for a new road helmet, my existing one having done it's job in my recent crash.

I had a cheapy MTB one (with visor removed) like this http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/road-t ... irozhel788
but now I'm wondering whether there's any point in upgrading to a "road" helmet, and/or spending any more money???

From what I can read, it looks like more money = maybe lighter, maybe more aerodynamic but mostly looks (clearly the most importnant of the three ;) )

I'd been considering one of these:
Spiuk Zirion
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/spiuk-zirion-road-helmet-1/
Giro Savant
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/giro-savant-road-helmet/
Bell Lumen
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/bell-lumen-road-helmet-1/
(Not necessarily from the wigmeisters)

Or will I save the £££ and just get the Indicator again?

I imagined this thread to be a list of people...Tritans, Kevy, Bendy...

I'd also recommend a Kask lid

I have one of these:
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mavic-syncro-road-helmet-2014/rp-prod113857?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=Shopping&utm_name=UnitedKingdom&gs=1&gclid=CK2opL7cxL8CFbRj7AodUXYAng&gclsrc=aw.ds

I think its really good for the price (I think I got it on sale for a bit cheaper than this). It is really good, although on a very sunny day can get a bit warm (it is black after all) but given it looks fricken awesome i'm happy with the trade off. Or if you're feeling flush, Mavic do a version with a carbon outer shell which is lighter, stronger and cooler from what I understand...and carbon!
