Box End Aquathlon - 5th May

Postby Sir Jibbenstein » 05 Apr 2013 22:12

Swimming and running without the sitting down in the middle. 750m/5km
Nice lake, local to Castle juw where I grew up (I remember when it was a field...), hopefully the fish aren't hungry :o and a nice little trail run around the lakes to finish.

It's a qualifier for the ITU Worlds in Hyde Park too. Rumor has it Miskin and I will be going head to head for one of the M30-34 slots

I'm in, anyone else fancy a go?

Yup. I am in. Registered for both the event and the qualification via BTF. Had a look at the list on the BTF website and 9 of the 14 registered (excluding you to come) are racing here to. So I think it's definitely a case of top 7 and within 115% of the winners time. I don't know if they'd end up giving more slots away despite being able to field 25 people. BTF have a habit of wanting quality over shear quantity.

Best get training!

BTF have had a lot of my money over the past few weeks, they can wait another couple before I give them another £10 note. Will certainly be interesting. Remaining 4 places will be allocated on prequal/discretion/roll down.

Could be quite tough, potentially only 4 minutes between qualifying and not qualifying

Like I said...... ;)

I know. I was working it out. Someone might be a 10min swimmer and 19min 5km runner, 30s for T1. Meaning you'd need a 34:09 to make it! Punchy but do-able. Just hope no absolute god-like AG turns up!!!!

This is just down the road from me and (looks at calendar) I'm actually in the country for it. I think I may have to enter, although I'll be pushing for last place with my swimming  And I just spotted the Bedford Priory MD cos of this :D I might actually be in danger of racing this year. Get in!

I may see you guys there then

Come along. It'll be good fun. First hit out for me. Need to find a lake to swim in prior to the race first. Think I have one option on the Sunday the week before!

All signed up now. I've got nowhere to hide either as the whole clan seems to be descending on the place to watch me. I'll have the wife, my in-laws, her sister and kids, and some friends rocking up as well. Is now a good time to say that swimming's definitely my worst discipline

What sort of time do you think you need to post to qualify? Just wondering...

I ran a 19 min 5k... once.

Maybe I should give up on the cycling bit!

This was the national champs last year: http://www.sportstimingsolutions.co.uk/ ... eniors.xls

Winning time (M25-29) was 26:20, (M30-34) was 26:34, (M20-24) was 28:26, (M40-44) was 30:17, (M35-39) was 30:26, (M45-49) was 30:31. Hope you can come within 4-5 minutes of those times.

Hmm, maybe on a good day, and if I could learn to take my wetsuit off quick. A 12:30 swim, 19min 5k, 32:30Ish

I'm at th upper end of 30-34 now, maybe next year, if no one fast turns up! :D

sub 27 is very impressive, I'm nowhere near that fast!
