ZIPVIT Bakewell tart energy gel

Postby Jungle_re » 04 Jun 2013 17:20

bought these from a very small bike shop it Cirencester to trial at St Polten. I don't use energy gels really during training as I have a couple of stone of artic rations built in that I need to shift so train empty. Might of been a risk using these but they didn't effect the bowls in a negative way. They are much more glooppy than either power bar or Hi Five which I prefer and they are also a larger serving and far more calories than most (51g of isotonic carbohydrate energy) but the best bit is they really do taste just like bakewell tart blimmmmmmmmming gorgeous (insert licking your chops smiley or snorking pig). I'd have one over a chocolate bar any day or just spread on toast. The only down side is if you inadvertently spill some, the post race masseur might mistake it for .... best not go there.

In brief:
Easy to open
51 grams of carbs
Isotonic
Don't give you the ab dabs
Gloopy
Tastes amazingly good

Get some in your top left for your next race :D

By gloopy do you mean difficult to get down ?

Love the flavours, peanut butter mmmmm, bakewell tart sounds bloomin lovely. But just too thick to get down easily.

Ade you better sit down and think calm steady thoughts...
i found it really easy to eat/slip down the ultra watery ones exploded all over my face or squirted down my throat triggering a gag reflex.
The gloop could be squeezed in, in amounts i could handle between breaths which i found much easier.

Might be just personal preference ( i used a mixture of these and hi five ones and the provided powerbar gels) but nothing else tastes as good
