Coast to Coast and Race the Train

OK, here is something that jon.e has challenged me to do...

I leave just about equidistant between the east and west coasts.

So, the idea is

1) Get first train to Morecambe from Bingley
2) Cycle from Morecambe (that's on the West Coast, Ben) to Scarborough (that's on the East Coast, Ben)
3) Get the last train back from Scarborough to Bingley.

The logistics just about work out:

On a Saturday, first train gets me to Morecambe at 08:46
Then a little 122 mile road across the country (hilly bit is in the first half), this would be the quickest route, so not incredibly scenic.
Then the last train is at 20:48
Of course, getting an earlier train is better.

I would anticipate averaging 20kph (including stops for food etc), so it should be doable in about 9h:45m.

... Was thinking of doing it this month (September), but following on from the ride with Brad, I've still not got the pain issue quite sorted....

Finally got around to plotting a route on Strava. (Well, using the bikehub app to generate one).

https://www.strava.com/routes/3777300

Avoids the main roads, but involves charging straight across the Dales, taking in on of the "100 climbs" climbs - Langsett.

213 km/132 miles
12 hours to do it.
2700m of climbing.

Getting the train to Lancaster, instead of Morecambe, and cycling out to the coast adds 5 miles, but gains an extra hour (it's flat).

So

311km/137 miles
13 hours to do it.
2700m of climbing.

Route avoids the worst of the main roads.
