...to the BCTTT massive!
First race in two weeks, bit of extra poundage to lose!
Yearly running stats for me:
2016 2445k
2017 2380k
2018 2300k
In terms of times 2016 and 2018 were the best years, whilst training volumes similar, the spread through the year was very different. 2018 had some cracking results (despite the ravages of age ) and the most positive aspect has been the lack of injury. I have not kept the volume up in Nov/Dec but it has still been reasonable, leaving things well set up for next year.
So after vast analysis (looking at a few charts) the plan for this year is for a pb at every race distance:
5k 19.39 (2016)
10k 41.23 (2016 during hm)
10miles 1.06.52 (2016 during a hm)
Hm 1.28.52 (2016)
20mile 2.34.00 (2018)
Marathon 3.50 (2018)
Aim is a higher Ave weekly volume, although this is unlikely to be vastly higher, around 2800k for the year. Critical difference will be a weekly long run of 2hrs+ which I have never done in previous training. Getting weight down a bit 2/3 kgs should do it. Where possible more speed work as that has been lacking this year and I think was the difference between 2016 and 2018.
Oh, the other goal is gfa of 3.19.59
Easy pbs should be the marathon and the 20 miler as they are way off forecast pace. The 10k and 10mile should be next. The 5k and hm will be the toughest.
Let’s see
Stay well everyone.
