How was your year? Objectives for 2016

Postby Jack Hughes » 30 Nov 2015 17:55

Don't think we've done this one, and it's always one of the favourites.

I know someone who is threatening to do their first ironman :D

So.. how did you fare in 2015?

In case you want to be reminded, here is the "objectives 2015" thread:

Did a marathon (my first) in April. Bit of a fail compared with the target.

Broke.

Nothing else since. Obviously a marathon PB, as it's the only one I've done, and also a Half marathon PB, because it's the only one I've done. But that's the only two races!

Still trying to unbreak.

No idea for next year at the moment. But I really ought to do something... just not sure what...

... Although I have a rather challenging bike event for March... so it's all about trying to prepare for that.....

Just read the 2015 objectives.

Thoroughly depressed.

not being injured
something approximate to consistency
IM Wales
do some sprints

year isn't done yet :P

managed the first one for a bit and have been trying to get rid of my current injury since im wales.
was more consistent, although since september it's been rockier
did a fairly decent job at tenby, got to the start line (nearly) injury free, got the finish line, raised some money for some brilliant people.
did two sprints, and did pretty well in both.
did an oly, too and i think objectively i was better at those than the sprints.

2016?
stop being injured
do some sprints
do another oly
maybe do a middle
time trial? believe it when it happens

And by the same logic you ddn't achieve a single one of them.

The only way to progress is to lay some down for next year :)

2015: mixed bag. Excelled in some target areas, failed in others. Hopefully a variety of lessons learned

2016: be leaner, more powerful, and train & race smarter.

JH - sub hour in May should be on your list, especially if you can carry form over from HotW prep. And ris, you'd best pull your finger out and TT next year!

My year's been relaxed, which is exactly what it was supposed to be. No pressures, no "must do" events, just enjoying being injury free and training when I felt like it.

Now, for next year....

- Not breaking is objective No. 1.

- Sub 5h in Poland is objective No. 2. Should be doable, as unlike at the end of 2013 (when I was preparing for the first Poland race) I'm currently not broken.

- IM finish is (possibly, still TBC) objective No. 3. With Maastricht as the provisionally selected race.

Let's see what happens.

:ugeek:
2015:
26/04 Southampton 10k
30/05 Sieraków Triathlon
21/06 Dambuster Triathlon
29/08 Club Relays
27/09 Hever Triathlon

Started a new Job, which got in the way of any training

Started Poland and Broke before the end.

Still Broke, but slowly getting better.

Just looking toward sprint distance for 2016.
Striving for glory.....and failing magnificently.
