FAO Surreyists

Does anyone have any experience of the Guildford Sprint Tri ?

Am particularly interested about the bike leg.

That is if you've been able to notice over the peak of your Burberry baseball cap.

Thanks in advance.

Looks new - so route probably a bit of an unknown quantity.
You are fairly safe in the knowledge that it isn't massively hilly within a 20km radius of Surrey Sports Park (.... though no idea how they will devise a decent bike route from there, as it's all a bit hemmed in by hospital / university / A3)

There.... glad to be of no help whatsoever!

Sure they won't let flatlanders in anyway....

Yes that's the one.

Yes it's new for 2016. I've done a coup of sportive so with aat starting from SSP. The routes generally head north towards park barn and then fairly quickly onto country roads. I suspect they might use the same set up. Will try to dig out some links.

One of the local rags suggested that the route will be NW of Guildford. Here's one of their sportives.

I would guess that they use that route out and then either left to Normandy or right to pirbright

Either way you have typical surreyist undulations, mediocre to terrible Tarmac, supportive to tractor driving locals...

I like the organisers. They're pretty big down here"..

But I haven't entered despite it being on my doorstep. Not sure why...Partly because I think it's expensive for a sprint... Partly because I'm ambivalent about Tri (again).

And I don't know where the 5km of trails around the uni are meant to be either...

Thanks for that.

I guess the run will be in the grounds around pitches somehow.

But for the swim alone I think I'll give it a crack.

relive those rugby years with 5km of shuttle runs up and down the side of the rugby pitch.

i'm guessing you don't fancy driving to wiltshire for a pool sprint and a pint after? ;)

Have they specially said that they'll use the pool as a 50m one? It's often laid out as 2 X 25m so not sure what they'll do on the day.

You know you can just rock up, pay a fiver and swim there right? Check times etc but there's various 50m sessions...

I imagine there is some dark ulterior motive, like having challenged some drinking buddies from the Queen's Head to some sort of duel
