For healthy people, a waste of time

Possibly Vit C dosage might reduce the length of time you have cold symptoms.
Omnia Vanitas

If your diet is lacking, then supplements have a place, a blood test, or for magnesium a hair sample can be tested. But if you are healthy, and your diet is good then money can be spent elsewhere.

I use colostrum powder, due to an immune problem, but I did go through a stage of trying supplements, but saw no improvement.

What supplements are you thinking of Will?

Most, but not all days I have one of these. I was also taking ZMA (http://www.bulkpowders.co.uk/zma-capsul ... ?dpc=ZPL10, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZMA_(supplement)), but recently stopped mainly because I tidied the bag away somewhere and haven't yet found them. I also take SiS Rego after every session that's at least moderately hard.

It may well be a waste of time, but in the last 12 months I've had 2 minor & short lived colds, whereas normally I'd expect to have 3, 4 or 5 a year, lasting up to a fortnight each. That might be because I'm eating better, or taking more precautions to try and keep colds at bay (which is made difficult living in the same house as a teacher and a 2yo) and have nothing to do with the supplements, difficult to say. As I ramp up training through winter I might need to restart the ZMA if I find I'm struggling with recovery - it definitely felt like it was helping my sleep when I was taking them... although I had some very mad dreams with them too.

No supplements here. A healthy diet should provide all the nutrients you need other than vitamin D

Calcium to ward off osteoporosis and cod liver oil for the arthritic thumbs here... and Berocca because it cheers me up in the morning (but probably has no health benefit)

Shift work
A below average diet and I take these, a berroca and a Benecol yoghurt drink daily

Do they work - no idea. I do feel better but likely to be a placebo.

The WAT - a medical biochemist and pharmacologist does however think there is some benefit too ( didn't really listen to why) so I carry on

I take a daily multivitamin - not convinced of the quality of the fruit & veg out here, plus the amount of time people spend avoiding the sunlight out here means that many people end up with a vitamin D deficiency in the summer.

Also take a fish oil supplement because I rarely eat fish.
