Aldi have got some awesome front and rear lights, basically Moon Comet lights at about 1/4 of the price (£8.99), so you could buy a few of those if they've still got stock.

You don't need to worry about lighting through the Royal County.

The roads are paved in Platinum which will reflect the moonlight perfectly. Unless the chavs from Surrey have crossed the border and nicked it all again.
One who wants to do something, will find a way.
One who doesn't, will find an excuse.

Don't believe a word of it.. in my experience, the roads are scattered with shards of flint, the skies filled with killer attach red kites, and the air filled with hailstorms to repel people from outside the county...
Best you can say is that they don't have any hills!

Night ride

Postby Bendy Ben » 18 Oct 2015 14:55

Ris - lighting ! Holly shit it was dark !
Pitch black
I couldn't see anything / descending hills with 5% vision at best was hairy !

Lights - must invest in decent lights if I'm to ride at night. Zero moon light, no artificial lights , my piddley Cateye barely pierced the thick darkness.

You couldn't see 3 ft in front of you. Nor could you see the edge of the road! I did stop and take s photo of what I could see and I thought I'd share it Image

Training ? Pah! Overrated

Ben, that is just a black rectangle.

You didn't have to go all the way to Salisbury to create a black rectangle, you should have asked, I'm sure a few people on here are handy enough with MS Paint to create an image with a black rectangle.

I was hoping to glean some wise advice from you on your lighting set-up for such a journey as I'm wondering about winter commuting. Should have expected you'd be a total tit about it!

On the upside, that's a lovely pic of the London suburbs. Staines perhaps?
I had fun once. It was awful.
