As some of you might know via twitter or on here I'm planning to ride 247 miles for a children's cancer charity in March. If anyone is interested I'm (infrequently) writing a blog charting this cluster.

Nice bit of kit!

Re the suitability of it, could you get a bigger cassette, and a behind the seat bottle mount?

Alternatively, I can't remember if you've said the ride is supported, but if there is a vehicle could you have the Spesh in it ready to switch to if you needed? Or do you know someone who could meet you at a predetermined point for a bike change?

Cheers mate, she is my favourite (they aren't like kids, I can have a favourite, cant I?)

Its going to be unsupported, so I have to make a choice for the whole route. I had thought about rear bottle mounts but I wasn't too sure if I could then use a saddle bag with it (the mount I was looking at fits onto the saddle rails).

Wrt the gearing, it already runs a 11-28 and I don't think my rear mech would take any more. To be honest 38/28 is probably enough for most of it, but it might be nice to have bail out gears

think I may just have both bikes road ready any go with what I feel on the day, will just be a case of swapping over a cassette and pedals.

A decision has been made!!

I have managed to blag a compact chainset and I have bought a rear mount for some bottles (and I have just savaged the bottle cages of the Spesh!).

So no going back it will be Ellie Morris (the Peugeot)
