Battle of Naseby

Postby Jimba » 20 Feb 2018 14:24

Occurred in 1645, the commerative race was held on 18 Feb over........16.45 miles. 289m of climbing, mostly in the second half, sadly for me. 289 might not sound much, trust me it is.

Long training runs have been absent in my build up, for the last year or so, and that proved to be a problem in the last 6 miles.

Up to mile 10 going along nicely, 1 hour 12mins. Last 6.45 miles 53 mins! It wasn’t just the hills, it was the stream of people going past that confirmed I was flagging.

Cracking run and I thoroughly enjoyed it, I will be back with better training under my belt. Or move to Hastings :D

That pace isn’t anything to be ashamed of for an old boy ;)

Well done, Jimba (retd)

Well done Jimba, still showing those young upstarts how to do it. As Kevy says, it ain't the distance, just the pace that nails you.

Cheers Jon, 44/271 is not too shabby, but would have been more like 30/271 if the tank handing emptied! My 20miler on Sunday has been postponed which is annoying, but sensible :)

Good work.

I note that it's 1,140 years since the Alfred beat the Danes in 878 at the battle of Edington, which led to the treaty of Wedmore.

Wedmore is very flat (somerset levels). Not so sure about Edington.

But a nice 8.78km run....
