Casting our minds back to the dim and distant past of the training logs, a quick reminder and to show how far you have come.

So... planned events for 2012:
Fleet HM
Already thinking of a DNS for this - not doing enough running (and not enjoying what I am doing - though that may be a vicious circle), and suspect that my original sub 2hr objective is now in the realms of fantasy

Thames Turbo Race 2
Always like these races; babysitter planned, so a bit of a jolly with the BAT officer

Dorney Supersprints
A few folks from work are getting together to do this one. Hope to at least be able to preserve some dignity and beat most of the boys (bar the GB Age Grouper) on the bike

Windsor OD
A perennial favourite. Would really like to go sub 2:40

possi Thorpe OD

Thames Turbo Race 4

The Vit

Legs of Steel
Still want to make that elusive gold medal cutoff time - and training makes a perfect excuse for spending loads of time roaming the Surrey hills with Champ.

possibly a TT somewhere if I am feeling brave

Your time for Windsor this year was, sub 2:40,

But it is the last line that is relevant and one others should pay attention to. :D

Good points Jon.e

Here is the year later thread:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7975

Some talk of a sub 26 min TT from a certain CCS.

Lots of other interesting stuff too. Especially from IanM.

And Ris for that matter.

Just spent the last hour going through the old training logs, great reading, and some straight from Grimm brothers

Hah - not sure I'm quite there yet with "Train Smart". Certainly wasn't last year, and I'd say that it's only in the last few months that my training has had some proper thought applied to it, and that's constantly evolving. I think it's only this year that I've really used the power meter properly too, last year was more of a "oooh, look at the pretty graphs", whereas now I'm actively working on ATL/CTL, etc.

Exactly. And it's only this year that you have made dramatic breakthroughs.

You are doing something very right, while having a relatively limited "time budget" to spend.

That's the danger of setting objectives - someone will always remind you of them!
I am just a bit slow in meeting any of my targets!
Now, of course, I want a sub 23 (could be on with the right course, but not sure I will have enough time/good weather left this year to fit it into the diary).

Damn - and there is still some unfinished half marathon business to deal with (sticks head in sand).

Must review IanM training plan for inspiration on where to go next year.

On reflection, I think I am a bit lucky in some ways, since (I think it was Jack pointed out a while back) - if you are a laydee of the female type persuasion, you are pretty much guaranteed entry into any TT you might fancy - does make life a bit easier. Still, not many people know that (shhhh.... I shall dine out on this one for a bit longer... even Golden Cheetah man at work was impressed about going to the nationals).

Clare - you would get entry based on ability - nuff said (is that the correct use of the modern vernacular?)

Dam that LG looks good. must get me one of those - slight derail any joy with visors?
It seemed like a good idea at the time :? .

Gents' national 10 already has 150 entrants faster than 20:48!! And it's still not reached the deadline for entries yet.
