Shame about the TT, but a nice time for the first five miles. Racing tends to throw the odd curve ball, hopefully the knees and the ankles will be sorted, better to be rested and ready than tentatively fragile for race day.

I may get a bike ride in before the 6th, but even that is dubious, guess it could be the same boat for race day, I will check EBay for any paddles for sale.

Right. The eve of the last event.

I suddenly dawned on me that I should have finished the season after the OD back on the 10th. I've been sore and generally on the verge of brokenness since. Hamstring has been niggling. Neck has been very sore. Felt tired enough at the weekend that I decided that some hardcore not-doing-anything was really what was required. Managed a little bit of yoga this week, and that was it. I probably should have had a quick spin on the bike when the opportunity arose on Tuesday, but I wasn't feeling at all well. So didn't. Maybe a bit of a swim last night would have been the right thing to do. But too stressed and tired to bother.

32 hours of "activity" in July, 11 hours in August. 0 in September. Taper?

Objectives for tomorrow: 1) Survive 2) Enjoy it. 3) hope to get back before it is dark. I shall almost certainly fail at at least one of these goals.

The run course is 3 "laps" - except they are actually 3 out and back runs with only about 750m as a loop. So plenty of time for a natter as we go past each other.

jon.e will have worked out exactly where I need to overtake him to win by 15 minutes. I am not even going to bother ;)

Hah, no I bloody well can't!

My knee's just about holding together for the end of the TT season. I don't think it would appreciate me running on it.

I shall tri vicariously through the dinosaurs instead ;)

This will certainly be a race of unknowns.

First go with the speedfil
I have invented a plan for some home made nutrition, and will have never tried it before.
First, and longest, 50+ mile TT
First Half Marathon and longest race (only done 10 miles before).

Second longest ever swim.

First time in socks etc.
Will have to have a box in transition for all the goodies.

I'm fairly sure the first statement isn't accurate :-)

I really hope that you enjoy the race and don't let the level of expectation overshadow what you are actually achieving. Pot, kettle, black I know, but ...., :-)

Good luck for the weekend.
Really looking forward to the report from this one.
I hope that you are retaining the rear bottle system for this one - it will be excellent for pain relief!
