Well, if we went at the same speeds as we did last Sunday, I would beat him by a minute or so.

However, I need to beat him by 15 minutes.

So, a Lot lot faster :(

Fifteen minutes in MD races is a splinter in the minds eye, a tick and tick of the race clock.
One minute a mile faster over the HM.
A couple of dead stops at junctions.
A puncture, or two.
The longer the race, the more the variables.
Fifteen minutes is nothing.
Extinction is the rule. Survival is the exception.

But the chance of bonking, cramping, injuries isn't 0.

The fact that I do not have the opportunity just to chug round in 6 hours makes it interesting.

I'll have to push the limits. And you know I'll have to push the limits. And you don't want to lose.

I'll be behinds you. And need to catch you. Probably in the first 2 miles of the run. You won't have seen me since the hooter and being blind out on the course won't know what is happening. If I am flying high or have gone too close to the sun.

Very interesting.

No let up
No remorse
No quarter given

Are we going too fast, yes, no, or maybe ?

Well, I'll make room for a bit of remorse. A tiny bit. Otherwise, yes.

Bonus race point if one of us overtakes the other in the finish chute shouting

In under 3 weeks, the battle of the dinosaurs will all be over, one way or another. So will I feel post race blues?

Not a chance. I tend to stack my objectives.. so when I actually come to do a race, it's almost a distraction, and something to get out of the way and on with the next challenge.

Right now, I am fired up with the next project - one which will take me through to mid April, preparation for which officially kicked off on the 30th of July (as those paying careful attention to Strava/Endo may have noticed). It's going to be quite a tricky one to do, at the moment I give myself about a 10% chance of getting there. Just a slight distraction of a HIM to get out of the way first.

Have to admit to being a bit cross

This weekend should have been the last chance for a bit of volume+intensity - 3 days of hammering the bike with a few hard three - four hour rides would have been great.

Instead I went for the glory of a 10 mile TT PB. Fun, but not really that good a training session. Which also meant that I had an easy day on Saturday - ie a waste of an opportunity.

That being said, even with just 6 miles at race pace, my legs ache a bit. And where there's ache, there's gain. Or something.

Tipping down at the moment. I probably ought to be heading to work this afternoon, but don't really want to. If I do something intensive this afternoon. Then I will be very tired tomorrow, and if I travel down to London in the morning. That means a 5am start. Which will make me pretty useless on Tuesday. And I will need my wits about me as it looks like being a tricky week.

Knee a little sore. Ankles scorer than they have been for a while.

Of course, the 6 miles that I did confirmed the form was still there but not really improved, not actually sure I am any fitter than at the start of the year. Very hard to tell, without a PM.

Ramping down expectations for the HIM.
