And we're off:

A grand tour of Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, and the lakes. Over at least 12 monthly stages. With the yellow jersey GC classification, and the green jersey points competition up for grabs.

Currently, there is a field of two (jon.e and myself), but everyone is welcome to join in. Although you will need to travel a bit if you don't live outside Yorkshire/Lincs region

THe plan is as solid as it can be at the moment:

September: Opening Prologue

VTTA 10 mile TT on the V212 on 7th September (we still need to confirm that the dates are OK for jon.e workwise, and that we (I) are good enough to get in. Despite it being the VTTA, it is open to all. The V212 is a lovely quiet course on a bit of the A1 that was bypassed by the A1(M) a couple of years ago, just north of Wetherby. I seem to recall a bit of a trek from the village hall. But the road surface is good, still, If a bit windy at times.

http://www.strava.com/segments/1107243

This will be the second ever race on the TT for me. Nervous. But committed.

Strava has me doing a 29 on here last time. Now I have the TT bike, but I will still be aiming to limit my losses. It's a course that suits jon.e. Unless the TT bike really makes a difference!

October: MTB Marathon

26 miles of riding round the calder valley. All too familiar to the Hell of the Worth crowd.

I had hoped to get one in in September, but Jon.e has the Ilkey tri on the same date. I should be riding that as sneaky training though.

http://www.cmbm.org.uk/

This is a home advantage for me, and has a bit of climbing. I have a psychological advantage here, as jon.e is under the illusion that I know how to ride a mountain bike. Which I don't. Depending on where we are on the weight stakes, I should be the bookies favourites. But a lot can go wrong here.

November: Weight loss challenge

jon.e his unavailable all this month. So, I'm hoping he will be heavily snacking, eating and generally lazing around. Although I suspect he will be off on an extensive training camp in the warm somewhere.. I'm toying with the idea of doing the Leeds Abbey Dash, but will probably stick to some fell runs. Not sure how this will figure on the GC competition, it will probably just count for the points competition, although Jon.e has a scheme for pounds == minutes.

Everything else
We've not firmed this up. I think a fell race in December is on the cards. Or January.

Jan. fell
Feb fell or duathlon
Mar. TT
April. Skipton Tri.
May. Tri or Duathlon plenty in yorkshire( tadcaster, Driffield, wetherby,Holmfirth)
Jun. Allerthorpe sprint
Jul. ullswater OW swim - Iron Distance!!! Eeek!!
Aug. Allerthorpe OD
Sep. Sundowner.

There are three triathlons at Allerthorpe over three distances on similar courses.

I'd love to do more, but the logistics and physical aspects probably mean that one head-to-head per month is both practical and realistic.

nothing stopping you from doing more, if you think it will help. bit of race/event sharpness can only be a good thing (i'm such a hypocrite).

I will probably do some more.. except they won't be head to head challenges. I suspect, likewise, for Jon.e

Most events are at the weekend. I'm OK for Saturday and Sunday morning (but not midweek), in theory. But jon.e has to work weekends... not all.. but the events have to coincide with when he is not working.

March should be a 10k in Bradford, home field advantage for Jack there, so I will get a time deficit on that one.

Murray may have won his final 3-0, but the score line didnt befit how close the match was.
It will be very close, very very close.

The variety of races, provides the option of whether to train to get better at what I am better at, or spend time training in the areas I can develop and so reduce any prospective time deficiency, oh the choice!!!

Please note that anyone comparing cycling times should note that Jacks previous TTs other than the TTT this March were ridden on a standard road bike sans aero bars, which levels the playing field somewhat :?

Looking forward to it. Fossilisation and petrification await. :D

The aim is at least one event a month, but hopefully, more, the more varied the better.
Extinction is the rule. Survival is the exception.

To just to provide some grist to the mill of anyone wanting to start a book,

here are the head-to-heads in Tri. We've done a lot of the same events, just not at the same time (mainly because jon.e has done everything at some time or another):

Depressed now.

Just found out how to export all my data from training peaks (used during 2010/2011 - from when I got my power meter to when I gave up planning training sessions).

Weight when I did the skipton Tri:

11st 13lbs

Weight today 12st 13lbs

Racing weight schmacing weight.
