Sunday 21/10/12

Run -11.03km, 1:01:01, 5:32/km, 158bpm

First long-ish run for a while. Legs going to hurt over the next few days but need to get them better to do the HM run/walk next weekend.
Feeling a lot better about things. Still struggle to keep the heart rate down but I've seen improvements even in the space of the past couple of weeks so things are moving in the right direction.

More long runs, building up the mileage, and working on keeping the heart rate down - that's the plan for the next few weeks/months.
Got the weight to lose as well!!!

Monday 22/10/12

Run - 4.08km, 19:00, 4:44/km, dunno about HRM but would be high so imagine ca. 170-175 avg and top out over 180bpm

Was going to do the now-usual run to station and back again in the evening. However, didn't really feel like it first thing this morning but thought I could do a longer run home. Tough and slightly longer day at work than anticipated so did the normal run home from the station. Feeling a bit stiff from the longer run yesterday but don't know what happened but just felt really good. Was going to do a slow recovery run but the conditions were great and my legs felt pretty strong even if the CV fitness wasn't there.

So Endo says I ran the first minute at 8min/mile pace then just got quicker through the first km in 4:31, second km knocked off in 4:20. By this time I was blowing a bit as my initial exuberance caught up with me so eased up a bit to recover but still ran the third km in 5:00 and the fourth in 4:46.

Not going to blow the lights out but definitely feel like significant progress, especially with the long run and better HR control yesterday. Technique in the legs feels better as well so some progress there as well.

Saturday 27/10/12

Bike - 55km, 2:19:51, 23.6kmh, 141bpm
Easy ride in richmond park with a couple of mates, one of whom is relatively new to it all so relaxed spin at his pace. Readying myself for the first HM of the challenge tomorrow.

Sunday 28/10/12
Long Run - 21.11km, 2:15:20, 6:25/km, 155bpm

My first crack at the HM challenge for October. 5km in I was concerned as my legs were aching a bit. They hurt now so will be in a bit of trouble for the next few days. Had to walk the last couple of km but previous longest run for over a year was 11km. Perhaps a little reckless going for this in hindsight. I don't feel damaged at the moment though which is good.
