World Champs Training log

Postby wannabetri » 22 Mar 2012 15:53

Been doing bits and pieces this week but been fighting a virus which appears to be disappearing. Training is due to start Monday and rather aggressively too. Hoping this has cleared or I might be in the pits very soon.

Sh8tting it.

Ooohhh. What a nice project! Nothing like really knowing what your A race is.

Have you got any specific objects for the event? I. Terms of time (perhaps relative to winner) or position?

Looking forward to seeing some numbers too :)

I am aiming massively high. Basically want to finish Top 10 in AG, with a shot at the podium. Which I think means going near a 6:35 to podium or 7:05 to podium.

Link to the ETU version at the same course in 2010.

Jack - You'll know more. But I think this will mean a split break-down for me of about
Swim 4km in 1:06 (1:39/100m)
Bike 120km in 3:15 (36.9kph/22.9mph)
Run 30km in 2:20 (7:30min/mile or 8mph/12.9kph)

Individually, I could do the swim and bike. Run - I was running comfortable 7:40s with 20s RI in build up to IMAZ. Work to do there but then it's bringing all 3 together.

Does the course play to your strengths?

Although, as LA recently coined "Ride for Show, Run for Dough". And he certainly put that into practice with a controlled bike and blistering run.

Have you got to shift some weight to boost the run, as much as training?

The swim is lake not that it matters. Tend to swim similar splits independent of OW conditions and location.

Bike is flat with rolling terrain, runs along the valley so no major climbs. Think it's about 150m elevation over 1 lap, course is 1 3/4 laps.

Run - Seems mixed terrain looking at the map.

I have a lot of weight to lose to help run speed. Raced at a 93kg at IMAZ, and aiming to be 88-90kg come race week.
