I have a different reading of the last year:

Compared with 2011 you've hardly had any injuries. Nothing that has stopped you training
Compared with 2011 you've trained consistently - organised sessions, and done them.
Compared with 2011 you've enjoyed the training, made progress and been far more relaxed with a better attitude.

The relays will be a good benchmark. :)

I'll have to dig out my results from last year. Although tbh, I'm not sure if there'll be much difference as I've been on training holiday since June!

*Edit

Swim - 11:17
Bike - 28:29
Run - 29:32

Not exactly awesome - and I'll have two goes at beating those times! 8-)

Weight - 15st2
Waist - 42.9in
Hips - 42.9in
Bf means next to nothing, so am going to concentrate on wth as a relevant marker.

Have decided that these sort of numbers mean more to me than lbs and cm's.
I've got to the point I'm fed up of hearing myself say 'I need to do something about this'. I've been going up and down like a friggin yo yo for years.
Since I started on the whole weight loss thing I've lost over 40lbs from my starting weight to my lowest point. But then I've gone up again. So in real terms I've lost and kept off only about 23lbs. Which is a lot rubbish.

This week the plan is and I know, as I write it that I may as well not bother!
Monday: Running club speed session
Tuesday: Bike
Wednesday: Open Water + short run
Thursday: Off
Friday: Run
Saturday: Open Water
Sunday: Ride

Place your bets now.

Dude, positive mental attitude time!

Real Life gets in the way sometimes. Just commit to not missing a session due to any factors entorely in your own control. No-one can expect any more than that.

And just start logging walking the dog Endo. You'll feel surprisingly better.

So last night was running club for a speed session. I did not perhaps make the best decision possible.
I have been in a bit of a training funk and have negotiated a pass to this organised session from the WAT. As a result, I feel that I have to make the most of the session. This leads to stupidity apparently.
Jog to the race course to start, followed by Indian relay. The coach said sprint to the front. So I did.
What he meant was "run faster than you have been to the front" - only I didn't hear him say that - what I heard was "SPRINT!".
So I did. Moron. And as a result, my right quad had some weird sort of spasm going on and my groin on the left side was excrutiating.
So what did I do? Did I stop and sit it out. Did i F*ck. I carried on, in agony. I don't know whether it was to punish myself or what, but by the time we finished the session (which included some lovely hill sprints on uneven ground), I could hardly walk.
I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it though, which is odd. I think I must like pain a little bit.
This morning the quad's eased off, but the groin hurts and the achilles have joined in for good measure.
Don't know what to do training wise today, as I'm not sure what time I'll have available.
Might just do an hour on the turbo.
Open water tomorrow, which I'm thoroughly looking forward to.

Eating seemed to go ok yesterday. One day at a time.

Thinking of the following races for the post tri season to give me some sort of focus:
Sept - Harewood 10k trail race 23rd
October - Cusworth 10K 7th Oct / Survival of the Fittest 13th Oct (although maybe not cos it costs a fortune!)
November - 25th November Clowne Half mara
December - 1st Pain Barrier Bradford 10K (supposed to be quite tough) Mini mountain marathon dark peak 16th Dec? (may need someone for this)

Should keep me occupied........ And none of them are too far from home......
