Sonofsammo's training log year 1

Postby sonofsammo » 12 Jan 2011 11:21

A race: IMWales in 8 months time.
B: races - Cowman / Wales sportive / an OD?
Current weight: 204lbs
Current b/fat: 19.17%

Current training is suffering due to arrival of Henry in the family fold. Sleep is something of a rarity at the moment. Also, having sole charge of my daughter beatrice (2) is making training problematic. Relatives have all been ill so no one's been able to look after her for a while.
I haven't put a full week in since before Christmas and I'm sh*tting myself about the level of training I need to get up to to complete IM.
I can't believe that with no current employment I'm struggling so much to get the training in - God help me when I get a job, or the business starts gathering momentum!
So far this week, training = nothing.
Today had organised baby sitting in York so I could go and do a swim/run, but Amy and H are still fast asleep so that'scocked it up :(
Things will improve, I'm sure - I'm just feeling impatient.
Fingers crossed for a long run at the weekend.
I've done DNF. I've done DNS.
The future is DNE :D

Youve done more than me in the last few weeks.

Itll come .... the Fear that is - then you'll be shitting yourself into pretend training. You really are BCTTT to the core. I salute you

Just finished 90m Z2 turbo.
Currently making it up as I go along.
Have realised that trying to stick to any sort of training plan at the moment will end in tears.....
So have decided on an as and when approach - When they're all finally asleep, I'll train.
Can't wait to get out for a run with the new jogger - freedom!! Will run every day.
Hoping to get in a long run every week.
Turbo has been moved in to living room - WAT hates it, but I'm getting her a bike tomorrow so she can use it too ;-)
Swimming's a bugger - Have a free pass for the local pool, but Amy's always asleep during the lane swimming!
Oh well.....
Carry on!
I've done DNF. I've done DNS.

Not being able to upload a file on my blog, have decided to resurrect the training log instead.
Seems apt with my 24 week IMPlan starting tomorrow.
I've attahced the first 3 weeks as an xl.(it's from Iron Man start to finish)
I'm scared.
Have had serious conversation with WAT as to what it means. Have tried to ensure that it meshes with appointments and stuff... Could be interesting!
Have ordered new bike which will be a Madone 3.1 with Apex throughout and Race X Lite wheels. Can't wait!
Might be able to get out on the bike today (see how the changes have made a difference).
Will try and track training on here and enodmondo.
So, events entered for this year:
Wales Swim - 2.4mi - June 4
Wales Sportive - 112 miles - June 5
Cowman - HIM - July 3
Team Relays - August
Iron Man Wales - September 11th
Holy crap - that's more than I've done in my whole life, let alone a year!
It'll be an interesting year!

Swim - 1h 10 - 5x16 catch up with pull buoy + a few 50m sprints full freestyle - fun, fun, fun!
Bike - 57:01.43 - 15.65miles - 16.5mph av
Gutted about the bike. Was expecting to be much quicker. Stupid OAP in a car got in the way and slowed me down through one of the fastest bits. However, could have been quicker if I hadn't just been swimming and had fuelled better. 1m24s faster than last time. And there was a fair bit of wind.
Last time:

This time:

Mike's done a grand job - but the frame's just too big and the cranks are too long - and he couldn't change those.
A little fed up I wasn't faster, but that's life!
